אוניברסיטת חיפה נוסדה בשנת 1972 וייעודה המרכזי הוא לקיים מחקר והוראה אקדמית מצטיינים. אנחנו, באוניברסיטת חיפה, מאמינים שפריצות דרך מדעיות, מחייבות שבירה של הכללים הקיימים ונסמכות על חשיבה יצירתית וביקורתית. אוניברסיטת חיפה משקיעה משאבים עצומים במחקר חוצה תחומים ודיסציפלינות ויוצרת אגב כך "ענני" ידע חדשים, התואמים את הסביבה הדינאמית של המאה ה-21.
אוניברסיטת חיפה היא אוניברסיטת המחקר הגדולה בצפון. ככזו, היא איננה "מגדל שן", כי אם מוסד המגלם בגאווה את המרקם החברתי בו הוא מתקיים, באמצעות שורה ארוכה של שיתופי פעולה חוץ ופנים מוסדיים ופעילויות חברתיות מגוונות.
אוניברסיטת חיפה מצטיינת בתחומים רבים והיא מהמובילות בישראל בתחומים כמו מדעי הרוח, מדעי החברה, משפטים, רווחה ובריאות , מדעי טבע, חינוך וניהול. האוניברסיטה נבחרה על ידי המועצה להשכלה גבוהה להוביל את המחקר בישראל בתחומי מדעי הים וחינוך בחברת המידע.

This finding emerges from the doctorate thesis of Dr. Eitan Adres from the School of Political Sciences. The thesis won the outstanding study award from the Israel Political Science Association.
