The Department of Fine Arts uniquely combines Art Studies (practice and theory) with other university departments. Such a combination is unique in Israel and enables students to specialize in two fields at the same time.
The University of Haifa is the only university in Israel with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts.
The Department of Fine Arts offers workshops and study groups with focused studies in all the contemporary creative arts (painting, sculpture, drawing, video, computers, printmaking, ceramics) with Israel’s top artists and lecturers. The degree is designed to teach creative artists a range of skills, basic concepts, and theoretical principles. By combining practical workshops with theoretical studies in the Department of Art History, students can develop their creative abilities, gain a historical perspective, and learn to critically analyze artworks.
The department belongs to the School of Arts and is situated in the Dr. Reuven Hecht Art Center—an inspiring, modern building which offers a meeting place between society’s various communities. The Art Center work spaces offer students optimal working conditions and are excellently equipped for teaching the art, music and theater curricula.
