Communication Disorders is a multifaceted healthcare profession which covers a wide range of research and clinical practice relating to different aspects of interpersonal communication problems and methods of coping with them.

 Interpersonal communication may be verbal (spoken language) and nonverbal (e.g. intonation, body language, facial expressions). Communication skills are crucial for the management of family, social, and professional relationships. Communication difficulties can disrupt a person’s life and deprive him from taking an active part in social life. There are many different reasons for interpersonal communication difficulties (including loss of hearing, brain damage, impaired speech organ function), which can appear at any time from infancy to old age.

The Department of Communication Disorders of the University of Haifa aims to provide students with professional training and create a pool of researchers and clinicians with strong diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation skills, who will use their professional skills to help the community and contribute to the body of knowledge on this subject through their research.
