The Department of Computer Science in the University of Haifa combines world-class research with excellence in teaching.
The academic subjects include computer science theory and applied computer science. Department faculty publish their research in the most prestigious international platforms and consistently win awards and research grants. The Department benefits from the support of the Caesarea Edmond Benjamin de Rothschild Foundation Institute for Interdisciplinary Applications of Computer Science.
Data Sciences Program: The program leverages the strengths of three departments: computer science, information systems, and statistics. There are three core components of the data science discipline requiring mastery.The program within the Department of Computer Sciences pinpoints on developing computational algorithms for big data.
The Department offers a single major program and double major program with unique study combinations.

- A weighted grade of 700 (a score of 700 for the combined biology program).
- Other departmental requirements: A high school math score of 75 (five units) or 90 (four units). for the Data Sciences program 80 (five units) or 90 (four units)
- Minimum grade of 110 in the Hebrew Proficiency Test (for candidates from non-Hebrew schools)
- Admission requirements for the combined program in cognitive science: a weighted score of 700, 715 in the psychometric test, 90 in 4-unit high school math or 75 in 5-unit high school math, 110 in the YAEL—Hebrew Proficiency Test.

- Students choosing to study in the double major program can combine Computer Science with Mathematics, Information Systems, Cognitive Science, “Ofakim”-University of Haifa honors program or Biolog
Employment options upon graduation: Graduates can work in hi-tech and interdisciplinary professions. In Israel’s largest development companies and successful startups. Certified teachers can teach Computer Science.
