Ph.D in Communications
The doctoral program aims to train researchers who can contribute to the academic development of communication studies in Israel and fill research positions in both private and public communications organizations. The theory-based program draws from numerous disciplines in order to develop a multidisciplinary understanding of communications-related phenomena. The program includes advanced courses and academic supervision and is intended for outstanding students who are interested in pursuing a research career.
Stage I of the Research:
Stage I must not exceed one year including the summer break.
This stage is dedicated to writing and submitting the research proposal for approval.
Towards the end of Stage I, the students shall present their research proposal to a forum consisting of the Department’s faculty members and higher degree students.
The proposal will be judged by a department committee and at least one external judge.
Stage II of the Research:
Stage II must not exceed three years from the semester in which the proposal was approved including the summer break.
This stage is intended for researching, writing, and submitting the thesis.
At the beginning of every academic year, students are required to submit a progress report to the Doctoral Committee and Graduate Studies Authority.
The doctoral thesis will be assessed according to the University’s evaluation criteria.
Post Ph.D. employment opportunities: Journalism, radio, television, alternative media channels, profit and nonprofit organizations, spokesmanship, public relations, academic research.
