Ph.D in Archaeology
Archaeology is the study of ancient cultures in Israel and elsewhere based on the study of findings such as different types of structures and artifacts.
The Ph.D. program provides theoretical studies alongside practical work in the field and the laboratory. Studies in the Department of Archaeology explore a wide range of subjects related to archaeology in Israel, its neighboring countries, and the lands of the Mediterranean basin, from the Prehistoric Age to the Middle Ages.
The Ph.D. program is divided into two stages:
Stage I—Maximum period of one year (2 semesters from the time the student is accepted until the research proposal submission).
Stage II—Maximum period of three years (from the approval of the research proposal until submission of the disertation).
Post Ph.D. employment opportunities: With the Antiquities Authority, in tourism, teaching in schools, positions in museums, education related to Archaeology and Geography of Israel, academic teaching and research positions.
