The School of Public Health aims to train professionals who can improve public health and carry out research in this field. The public health profession wishes to improve and advance health on the local and global levels; for example, by reducing morbidity and death rates from cancer, heart disease, stroke, depression, malnutrition, malaria, AIDS, and influenza epidemics. The methods used to promote public health include: prevention, early detection, policy, environmental change, behavioral change, communication, etc.
The school employs an interdisciplinary, social science-based approach to facilitate a better understanding of health and disease prevention behaviors. It trains the upcoming generation of public health professionals in Israel in the areas of community health, health promotion, health service management, environmental and occupational health, epidemiology, and nutritional behavior.
The program is structured in a way that prepares students for positions in the health system, the medical industry, research and academic institutions, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations.

The program is intended for outstanding students with a Master’s degree in public health and adjacent fields who wish to acquire a PhD; the program is also suitable for students who are accepted for advanced studies and will continue in the School and conduct advanced research. The School’s track to Ph.D. provides a professional framework in the field of public health in which doctoral supervisors and doctoral students can meet and learn from one another, and where doctoral students can help in developing research areas in the field of public health.
