Statistics is the science of collecting, presenting, processing, analyzing data, and drawing conclusions. The curriculum provides theoretical and practical tools and trains graduates to work as data scientists in hi-tech industries, biomedicine, insurance, and more. It is important to note that in recent years data scientists have become among the most sought after professionals in the job market.
The Bachelor’s program provides students with the probabilistic, statistical, and mathematical tools that employers require. There are also courses in statistical programming, statistical models, statistical learning, and the theory relevant to these disciplines. The studies provide the foundation for a Master’s degrees in the various fields of statistics and probability. The Statistics curriculum is varied and is one of the country’s most innovative curricula.
Data Sciences Program: The program leverages the strengths of three departments: computer science, information systems, and statistics. There are three core components of the data science discipline requiring mastery. The program within the Department of Statistics pinpoints on inferring knowledge from big data.

- For spring 2020: a weighted grade of 625 and higher. (650 for the Data Sciences Program)
- For fall 2020-2021: a weighted grade of 650 and higher. (700 for the Data Sciences Program)
- A score of 75 in the matriculation exam in math (4 or 5 units) (80 in five units or 90 in four units for the Data Sciences Program)
- for the Data Sciences Program -Minimum grade of 120 in the Hebrew Proficiency Test – YAEL (for candidates from non-Hebrew schools)
