Archaeology investigates the ancient cultures in Israel and the rest of the world via the material culture left behind by humans (different types of structures and artifacts).
The Archaeology Department provides theoretical studies and practical experience in the field and laboratory. The Archaeology Department offers students a broad and comprehensive education on a variety of subjects related to the archaeology of Israel and its neighboring countries and the countries of the Mediterranean area, from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages.

- A weighted grade of 500 or special admission requirements for the Faculty of Humanities.
- Departmental requirements—a Tour Guide certificate for the tour guide specialization.
The Department of Archaeology offers three B.A. options: double major , single major (after the second year), and a tour guide specialization.
Digital Humanities Program with the Department of Information Systems—admission requirements for both departments must be met (see departments’ websites).
Employment options upon graduation:
Graduates can fill positions in the Antiquities Authority, in tourism, as schoolteachers and “SHELACH” instructors (for certified teachers), in museums, in archaeology education and geography of Israel, and in academic research.
